Koraput, Aug 25: Four migrant labourers Lobo Majhi, Jagabandhu Majhi, Basant Majhi and Gangadhar Majhi of Dhuturaphaso village in Kashipur block, Rayagada district, who had gone to Rajasthan on August 15 to earn for their living at a construction company, are reportedly being tortured at their workplace by the employer.
The parents of Basant Majhi on Tuesday filed a complaint at Kashipur police station alleging that their son and the other three are being allegedly tortured at their workplace.
Basant’s father, Dhan Majhi was informed by his son about the torture the four were facing at the workplace where the employer scolds and assaults them and has provided an unhygienic accommodation with inadequate food. He has also appealed the administration to rescue his son and the three other persons.
A case has been registered and an inquiry into the complaint has began, informed Y J Rao, Sub-divisional police officer (Rayagada)
As per the district labour officer (Rayagada) Narendra Raika, action against unauthorized agents is taken when information about such cases is received by them and the rescue mission for the labourers is initiated.
