Rourkela, July 28: Four tribal women and two minor boys, Kuni Majhi, 18, Amrita Tete, 22, Asmita Tete, 20, Rajni Soreng, 22, Akash Majhi, 17, and Bicky Majhi,16, who were allegedly trafficked to New Delhi, were rescued by Sundargarh police team from New Delhi, a couple of days ago and were handed over to their family members. The six were produced before the Child Welfare Committee, Sundargarh, on Wednesday.
According to reports, eight youths of Deuldihi village under Lephripara block were lured by a woman during the month of February, who promised to get them a job with a monthly salary of Rs 10,000. Later they were taken to New Delhi with the help of another agent.
Two out of the eight youths, Om Siba and Bikash, were allegedly tortured at their workplace that forced them to leave their job and come back to their village.
When the family members of six other youths got this news, they lodged a missing complaint in Lephripada police station.
Sundargarh Superintendent of Police, Nikhil Kanoria sent a team to New Delhi to locate the missing youths, after an NGO brought the matter to his knowledge.
