Cuttack, Aug 30: A four year old girl was allegedly raped by the priest of a temple on Sunday.
The incident happened around at 6 pm at a temple in Andoi village, Bhingarpur of Cuttack district.
As per the information, finding the girl alone when she had come to the temple to offer prayers and fruits to the lord, the priest allegedly raped the girl.
After expressing the whole story to her family later, the girl fell ill and was admitted in the Mahidharpada hospital.
Under Sec 376 of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual offence (POCSO) Act, a case has been filed against the priest at the Sadar Police Station, informed Cuttack DCP, Sanjeev Arora. The girl has undergone preliminary medical examination. He also added that on the basis of the evidence collected by the police, the investigation is being carried out.
On Monday, the statement of the victim was recorded by the police.
