FPV, interceptor boats inducted in Coast Guard, A&N

Port Blair, March 29: A Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) and six interceptor boats have been formally inducted into the Coast Guard fleet in the Andaman and Nicobar region, a statement by the Coast Guard said here today.

The FPV, ICGS Rajkamal, and interceptor boats — C-412, C-414, C-416, C-417, C-407 and C-428 — joined the Coast Guard Region (A&N) in an induction ceremony yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar, Lt Gen AK Singh, said joining of the FPV and six interceptor boats will augment maritime surveillance and close coast operation towards coastal security. The Interceptor Boat has a displacement of 90 ton and 28 m length, the statement said.

The water jet propelled vessel is capable of achieving high speed of 45 knots and has an endurance of 350 Nautical Mile. The vessels are fitted with state-of-the-art equipment and armament, it said.
