Bhubaneswar, Aug 30: After a news published by a private news channel regarding newly launched Mahaprayana Scheme is a ‘pay and use’ service, the state government on Monday informed that necessary alteration in the guidelines of the schemes will be made so that the poor and the distressed can get the free service.

The guidelines of the scheme has being examined and will be simplified for better clarity of the scheme, informed Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Minister of Health and Family Welfare to media people.

Further he added that, to get the service under the scheme, poor and economically backward classes will not be charged any amount.

It may be noted that, on August 25, CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Mahaprayan scheme at Bajapur under Mahanga block. This scheme is launched at all district headquarters hospitals and three medical colleges in the state.

Under this scheme, Family members would be given vehicles to carry the corpse of their near and dear ones who die in hospitals to their homes that too free of cost. This scheme is a relief answer to the condition of the man who had taken all pains of carrying his spouse’s corpse on his shoulders for about 12kms long as he was not provided with a mortuary van or an ambulance from the hospital in Bhawanipatna.
