Soro, Sept 12: Group clash during the Ganesh idol immersion created more tension at Soro when around seven shops were set on fire on Sunday night by some miscreants even though police had issued 144 of CrPC at the place.
After the incident, few accused have been detained by the police suspecting their involvement and are being interrogated in this matter.
As per the information, after a decision was made for restoring the normalcy in the area in the peace committee meeting which was held in the presence of ADG, SP and local MLA, the shops were set on fire by the miscreants.
However, until the matter gets cooled down, the armed force will be stationed in the area, informed the police. Prohibitory order will also stay in effect, informed Satyajit Mohanty, Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and order on Sunday after the meeting.
On the other hand, prohibitory order would be relaxed for four hours-10 am to 2 pm during daytime, informed Balasore collector.
Notably, during Ganesh idol immersion on Friday night, two groups clashed with each other when the immersion was passing through Pathan Mahalla in Soro Market, following which around five people sustained injuries.
