Bhubaneswar, Aug 17: The normal life of people was affected this morning when a breach in the nearby canal embankment flooded the Garage Chhak area in Bhubaneswar. As per sources, the overflowing water from the canal has flooded the low lying areas nearby while the Kedargouri apartment block has been stranded.
Ashok Panda, the local MLA and Tourism minister and Ananta Narayan Jena, the Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipality Corporation (BMC) rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
Jena said that because of excess water, the retaining wall of the canal has given way. The retaining wall would be constructed once the water is diverted to drain no. 10.
