Bhubaneswar, July 26: By holding empty buckets and protesting against poor water and electricity supply to the hostel, girl students from Utkal University staged dharna on Tuesday, in front of the Vice Chancellors (VC’s) office.
They also demanded 24-hours electricity and water supply in the hostel and repair of the hostel road. Complains regarding the poor water and electricity supply have been lodged a lot of time in the past years, but instead of solving the problems, the authorities have only given false assurances, said the Utkal University girl’s hostel general secretary, Madhu. Girls residing in the girls’ hostel have also been facing a lot of problems due to the frequent power cuts, she further added.
