Bhubaneswar: July 26: Gopal Das, the main accused in the murder case of former health minister Naba Das, was produced in the Jharsuguda District & Sessions Court on 26th July.

The Odisha Crime Branch brought him from the Choudwar jail to the court amid tight security.

The case of Gopal has been assigned to the court of the Additional District & Sessions Judge for trial. Gopal will be brought before the Additional District Magistrate of Jharsuguda on August 8th, and the trial will begin after the charges are filed on the same day.

The crime branch has already filed an interim charge sheet in the murder case with the court on May 26.

On July 13, Gopal appeared in the JMFC court for the first time. He was brought to court for the second time today after being held in Choudwar Jail for security reasons.

Naba Das had been the Health and Family Welfare Minister of Odisha since 2019. He was a three-time MLA from the Jharsuguda constituency and was said to be an influential leader in the area.

Minister Naba Das was shot at in Brajarajnagar in the Jharsuguda district and succumbed to his bullet injuries in Bhubaneswar Hospital.
