Rourkela, Sept 13: In a group clash incident during Ganesh idol immersion, section 144 has been issued in Rourkela following which around 20 platoons police force and CRPF have been deployed on the spot to keep situation under control.
As per the information, the incident happened when two groups clashed with each other at Old Station road during the idol immersion. Stones were pelted by the members of the group at each other. Several shops were vandalized by them during the clash.
After police arrived at the spot, they restored mild lathi charge to get the situation under control and arrested around 6 persons.
For security reasons, the place for Namaaz prayer has been changed to Jama Masjid on the occasion of Id-ul-Zuha. Previously, it was planned to be held at Idgah Ground, sources informed.
