Gujarat police detains Hardik ahead of Ekta March

Ahmedabad: Hardik Patel, who is leading The Patel quota stir leader Hardik Patel was on Saturday detained by police along with 35 of his supporters as he prepared to start his ‘Ekta March’ in Surat.

Gujarat administration also banned mobile Internet services across the state.

Hardik’s detention led to vociferous protests by community members at some places. The state administration said it has imposed a ban on mobile internet services in the state to curb spread of  rumours.

No violent incident has been reported so far.

Police said Patel and his supporters were detained in the interest of law and order as they did not  seek permission from the government to hold rally.
