Cuttack, Jan 6: The State government has been asked by the Orissa High Court to submit an action taken report (ATR) on the steps taken to revive Sardar Rajas Medical College at Jaring in Kalahandi district, within two weeks.

The court’s directive came on Monday after the State government submitted a compliance report on relocation of Sardar Rajas students in two government and three private medical colleges.  In its compliance report, the State government has said it has completed the admission of Sardar Rajas medicos since December 23.

The court directed the government to ensure that regular classes of the Sadar Rajas medicos begin by January 6 as they have lost a number of teaching sessions. It also directed the government to take adequate steps so that the Sardar Rajas medicos complete their courses in time.

On the recommendation of the Medical Council of India (MCI) to the State government for closure of Sardar Rajas Medical College since it has cancelled its affiliation for lack of adequate infrastructure, the court observed that there is no need for closure of the institute.
