Cuttack, July 29: On early Friday morning a heavy ball of fire broke out at 4 am resulting in damage of properties in HDFC Bank at the Jholasahi Branch.

A security official working there informed the fire guard about the incident as he noticed smoke coming out of the bank. Immediately the fire guards rushed to the spot and were engaged to extinguish the fire. It was found out that the bank had no arrangement of safety for such cases. The fire destroyed computers, furniture and other wooden structures worth lakhs of rupees.

While the reason behind the fire mishap is still unknown, sources said that no alarm was rung after the fire broke out in the banks and hence they couldn’t know when the fire started engulfing the office. On being contacted, bank officials refused to comment on the mishap.
