Healthcare service at Athagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital disrupted as doctors resort to cease work stir

Athagarh, Oct 13: Protesting against the attack on doctor by two youths on October 10, the doctors of Athagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital resorted to cease work stir today following which the healthcare service at the hospital was severely affected.

The strike has affected the outdoor and emergency ward of the hospital, said Prashant Kumar Hota, SDMO. The doctors are also protesting on the police inaction in this matter, he added.

Sub-collector, SDPO, SP and Collector have been informed about the incident. The Collector will look into the matter, he further informed.

Notably on October 10, following an argument over treatment of a patient injured in an accident, two youths had allegedly assaulted Pediatrician doctor named Chandan Gadnayak. Later, a FIR was also filed by the doctor against the duo at the Athagarh police station.

Meanwhile, the main accused named Pupul Das has surrendered before the police.
