Herbivore Census begins in State

The annual herbivore animal census began in Odisha from today and will continue till February 11. According to reports, the annual census was on at Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary, Nilgiri and Soro in Balasore district in which as many as 142 forest officials, divided into 27 units were engaged. Elephants are not included in the Census, forest officials said. Notably, forest officials had completed the annual tiger census earlier this month. Animals have been grouped under two categories – carnivores and herbivores- as is usually done in the annual exercise.
