Bhubaneswar: July 20:  On June 23, Hirakud Dam will release the first flood water of the season. The reservoir’s water level is rising as a result of rains in the upper catchment area.

The excess water in the reservoir will be released, according to the dam authorities.

The reservoir’s water level was 611.52 feet as of the most recent reports, while the dam’s maximum capacity is 630 feet.

The water level gradually increased as a result of a 1.40 lakh cusec water inflow and a 40,000 cusec water outflow.

Following discharge, the Mahanadi and its branch rivers’ water levels will rise. The dam authorities have forewarned the public as a result.
