Rourkela, Jan 29: The Steel Melting Shop-II (SMS-II) Department of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) bagged the Best Housekeeping & Safety Champion Award by scoring the highest aggregate points for the year 2015.
Besides, 14 Departments from different zones were awarded for excelling on the Safety and Housekeeping front. The awards were given away by MK Das Executive Director In-charge during the grand Republic Day Celebrations held at Ispat Stadium.
The objective of this award is to enhance awareness amongst the employees about better housekeeping and maintaining a safe working environment inside the Plant. The Departments were inspected by the Apex Committee and adjudged on the basis of certain criteria.
In Group-A, Sintering Plant-I was adjudged the best, while Coke Ovens Department bagged the second best. In Group –B, the first prize was bagged by Steel Melting Shop-II, while the second place was won by Captive Power Plant -I.
In Group – C, the first prize went to Electrical Resistance Welded Pipe Plant and the second prize was bagged by Plate Mill. Mechanical Shop and Repair Construction (Mechanical) got the first and second prize respectively in Group-D.
In Group- E, Field Machinery (Maintenance) was adjudged the winner, while Fire Services got the second best award. In group-F, Civil Engineering (Services) bagged the first prize while Medical & Health Services got the second prize. In group-G, the first place was bagged by HRD Centre, while the second spot went to the Projects Department.
