Bhubaneswar: April 28: The moment drinking water scarcity in state has come up as a major concern and opposition parties have been attacking government inside and outside the house, State Government successfully dedicated hundred more rural drinking water supply projects today to address the issue. Dedicating these projects today at a special function held at State Secretariat here, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik clearly spelt out, ‘Drinking water has been our priority and we will go for pipe water supply to all panchayats by 2017’. CM also expressed his feeling of happiness because state dedicated the project on the birth day of Utkala Gourava Madhusudan Das. Official sources said, these hundred projects will cater to 1,72,000 people residing in 107 villages across the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Special relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra informed, “Out of 954 projects, we have completed 347 so far. We are targeting to complete all the remaining projects by the end of the 2016-17 financial year’.
It is to be noted here, on April 20, Chief Minister had dedicated 100 urban drinking water supply projects in the state.
