Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to renovate three major hydro power projects very soon.
A decision to this effect was taken at a high level review meeting presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the state secretariat here on Tuesday. Energy secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said a target has been set to generate 11 MW of additional hydro power from Hirakud with the renovation of its two units for which the government would spend Rs 158 crore.
Rs 65.76 crore would be spent for renovation of one unit of Chipilima project while Rs 664 crore has been earmarked for renovation of hydropwer units at Balimela.
