ICZMP to undertake slew of infrastructure to develop Chilika

Bhubaneswar, Mar 29: The State government has decided to introduce a series of projects in and around Chilika to make the largest coastal lagoon in the country and its nearby place like Satapada to a world class tourist destination. The projects are to be undertaken under Integrated Coastal Zone Master Management Project (ICZMP) initiated by IP Global Consultancy and the projects include cruise facilities for water transport to different places of Chilika estuary, cottage at Mangalajodi and lodging facilities at Barabara. At Satapada, projects such as water sports park at Rambha and a convention centre at Satapada are to be carried out. Regarding the same, a meeting was held at here under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary AP Padhi.

Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan statd to media that as of now the government is putting all its attention in creating a cluster development in cultural, socio-economic profile, folklore of Chilika tourism and also in making new amenities for tourists. ICZMP Director Ajit Patnaik told media that these projects are also aimed at helping the locals to get employment which would raise their living standards and socio-economic conditions to some extent. In what ways can Chilika be developed uniquely and turn into a world class attraction is being looked at.
