Bhubaneswar, Jan 19: Rising speculations over ISKCON on proposed second Jagannath Mandir in Puri, the authorities of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) on Tuesday clarified that images of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra would not be worshiped in the proposed temple.
“The ISKCON has a plan to construct a 32-foot temple in Puri. Idols of Radhakrishna and Nrusingh Deba would be worshiped in it. There is no plan to build a second Jagannth Temple,” said a release of ISKCON.
They further clarified that there would be no Rath Yatra on behalf of the ISKCON in Puri.
Notably, BJP senior leader Bijya Mohaptra had told reporters here that the ISKCON had already submitted a DPR to the State Government and the PKDA (Puri-Konark Development Authority) for the setting of a Jagannath Temple more than the height of Shree Mandir.
Following this, the matter became a matter of discussion in various sections. Many apprehended that the importance of Shree Mandir would be diminished if a second Jagannath temple is constructed in Puri, one of the four Hinud Dhams of the country.
