Bhubaneswar: May 10: White Paper prepared by Home Department, Government of Odisha tabled today in Odisha Assembly, which revealed that 1,03,200 cases of crime were registered in the state during 2015-16 whereas charge sheets were filed in 66955 cases. 1473 cases of murder, 486 dacoities, 1787 loots, 4046 snatching, 10055 theft, 2935 fraud, 1976 riots, 2286 rape, 54 anti-social activities, 6016 dowry, 76 suicides due to dowry torture,3634 dowry torture cases and 1698 family dispute cases, 2504 cases of torture of SC&ST people have been registered in 2015. As many as 2,286 cases of rape and 54 cases of economic fraud were registered during 2015-16. It is important to note that there is an improvement in Maoists situation. Only 53 Maoists have been arrested.
However opposition did not agree with the White Paper and has criticised the government for the rising crime graph in the state.
