Increasing JE death toll; AYUSH team reviews the situation in Malkangiri

Malkangiri, Nov 10: Despite of several major steps taken by the State government to tackle the vector borne disease Japanese Encephalitis, the death toll due to the disease has reached 98 in Malkangiri as two more kids identified as Mangaraj Madkami of Korakanda and Gobind Kope of Bayanaikguda succumbed to the disease while undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.

On the other hand, eight member team of Ayush department visited Malkangiri district to review the situation of the Japanese Encephalitis.

After reviewing the situation, the team informed that as many kids have been affected with malnutrition, plans are on to provide them homeopathy treatment to grow their immune power as this treatment has been successful in other States.  

The proposal is under process with the State government and once it gets a green signal, the medicine will be distributed soon, Ayush expert team member informed.

Yesterday, the members of Adivasi Samaj Mahasangh had gheraod the district Collector’s office. They also threatened that the rally will be intensified in coming days if the government does not take proper steps soon to tackle the killer disease.
