Berhampur, Aug 24: Expressing concern over the increasing threat of wild animals, especially wild boar, on the farm lands, the elected representatives in Ganjam district have demanded immediate remedial steps to save the standing crops.

According to Zilla Parishad member S Damburu Reddy, the forest officials have failed to keep a check on the wild animals menace and instead book the farmers if they beat the animals to save their crops.

Moreover, adding to their problems, many affected farmers are yet to get compensation. Sudhir Rout, representative of MP (Berhampur) said that the forest officials should take quick steps to compensate the affected farmers.

The forest officials have been directed by the Forest and Environment minister Bikram Keshari Arukh, also a member of the ZP, to keep a check on the activities of wild animals and appoint more people in the vulnerable areas to minimize the crop loss.
