India Records 16,764 Fresh Covid Cases In 24 Hours; 1,270 Omicron Cases So far

India registered 309 cases of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, taking the country’s tally of such cases to 1,270.

Yesterday, India had recorded 13,154 Covid Cases whereas today, it has reported 16,764 fresh cases.

The daily rise in the number of coronavirus cases crossed the 16,000 mark after 64 days, taking the country’s COVID-19 tally to 3,48,38,804.

7,585 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,42,66,363, reported Health Ministry.

India’s Active Caseload is presently at 91,361. Active cases constitute 0.26% of the country’s total Positive Cases.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.36%.

220 people succumbed to the disease in 24 hours and total death toll increased to 4,81,080.

The last 24 hours saw a total of 12,50,837 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 67.78 Cr (67,78,78,255) cumulative tests.

While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.89% remains less than 1% for the last 47 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 1.34%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for last 88 days and below 3% for 123 consecutive days now.

Of the 1,270 patients infected with the Omicron variant of the virus, 374 have either recuperated or migrated, according to the ministry’s data updated at 8 am.

Of the 23 states and Union territories that have recorded Omicron cases so far, Maharashtra has registered the highest number of 450, followed by Delhi (320), Kerala (109) and Gujarat (97).
