India records over 40 K COVID-19 cases in a day; Total tally crosses 11 Lakh

Bhubaneswar: July 20: India witnessed a record single-day spike of 40,425 COVID-19 cases, taking its total to 11,18,043. In fact, this is the fifth consecutive day that, India has reported more than 30,000 cases each day. Also, this is the first day with more than 40,000 cases.

According to the Health Ministry’s data, so far 7,00,086 people have recovered from the disease and 3,90,459 patients are under treatment. Now, India’s recovery rate is 62.62 per cent.

The death toll due to COVID-19 jumped to 27,497 with 681 deaths reported in one day.

Among States, Maharashtra has 3,10,455 COVID-19 cases so far, including 11,854 deaths. 1,69,569 patients have recovered from the disease and 1,29,032 persons are under treatment.

Next State is Tamilnadu. It has recorded 1,70,693 cases so far. Out of that, 1,17,915 patients have recovered and 2,481 patients died due to the disease.  50,297 active cases are there, who are undergoing treatment.

After Tamilnadu, Delhi has also more than one lakh cases. It has 1,22,793 cases so far, including 3,628 deaths. 1,03,134 patients have recovered from the infection and 16,031 persons are under treatment.

The fourth State is Karnataka. It has reported 4,120 new COVID-19 cases and 91 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 63,772 and the death toll to 1,331 which has 63,772 cases in total. Here, 23,065 patients have recovered and now, 39,376 cases are active.
Besides, Uttar Pradesh has registered 49,247 cases so far, followed by Andhra Pradesh (49,650), Gujarat (48,355), Telengana (45,076) and West Bengal (42,487).
