India registers 64,399 new COVID Positive cases in a day; Total cases reach over 21.53 Lakh

Bhubaneswar: August 9:  India recorded a single-day spike of 64,399 coronavirus cases, taking its total tally to 21,53,010. Also, 861 people succumbed to the disease in last 24 hours and death toll in the Country reached 43,379.

India has recorded the highest number of recoveries in a single day with 53,879 COVID patients having recovered and discharged. With this, the total number of recovered cases has increased to 14,80,884.

So far, 6,28,747 cases are active in the country.

With this figure, the number of recovered cases in India is more than twice the number of active cases. The recovery rate has been growing continuously and now, stands at 68.78%.

Maharashtra continued to be the worst-hit state in India with 5,03,084 cases, followed by Tamilnadu ( 2,90,907) , Andhra Pradesh (2,17,040), Karnataka (1,72,102), Delhi (1,44,127), Uttar Pradesh (1,18,038), West Bengal (92,615), Telengana (79,495), Bihar (75,294), Gujarat (69,869), Assam (57,714) and Rajasthan (51,328).
