India reports highest Covid deaths in a day since the pandemic hit last year

Bhubaneswar: June 10: India reported 6,148 deaths due to COVID in last 24 hours. This is the highest deaths in a day recorded so far in India. Earlier India registered highest deaths due to Covid on May 21 with 4,529 deaths, which crossed both US and Brazil’s record deaths in 24 hours. US registered highest deaths on January 12’2021 and Brazil on April 6,2021.

On the other-side, number of daily cases in India is declining day by day. 94,052 fresh cases were recorded in last 24 hours. The country has recorded less than 1 lakh Daily New Cases for 3 continuous days now.

India’s total cases increased to 2,91,83,121 with 11,67,952 active cases and 3,59,676 deaths so far

1,51,367 people recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours and now total recovered cases number reached 2,76,55,493 as on date. The overall recovery rate is now 94.77%.

A total of 20,04,690 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively India has conducted over 37.21 crore (37,21,98,253) tests so far.

Weekly case positivity is declining. Weekly Positivity Rate is currently at 5.43% while the Daily Positivity rate stands at 4.69% today. It has remained less than 10% for 17 consecutive days now.

The Health Ministry said that a total of 24,27,26,693 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 33,79,261 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.
