Dhamra, Feb 09 : Sports themselves have a vital role in making a child sound physically as well as mentally.Sports are slowly becoming an integral part of holistic education. Adani Foundation organised one day inter school athletic meet among girls student for the first time at Dosinga High School playground near Dosinga market. In this athletic meet more than 100 girls of nine periphery high Schools belongs to eight panchayats took part in different sports events.As Chief Guest Dhamra Port CEO Sri Subrat Tripathy, inaugurated the meet by lighting up the lamp followed by flag hoisting and March fast by different student groups. Unit Head Prabhat Kumar Mishra and all members of CSR team were present during the session. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest underlined the importance of sports in nation building specially in moulding the youth of the State in various constructive activities with special reference to girls won medals in Olympic. He also expressed his pleasure to see the participating teams from schools.’We make the event most successful and planning to organise in district level in future especially for girls student and all possible support provided by Adani Foundation’- added by Prabhat Kumar Mishra. In all nearly 250 players,teachers, officials,villagers, Parents were present to witness the athletic meet.One of the parents exhilarated to see his daughter’s performance during the sports and appreciated initiative made by Adani Foundation.
Various games played by students like Running, Shot put, Discus throw;High Jump and Long Jump are the few. The students who didn’t get the opportunity to participate in athletic meet also stand among the spectators to support their favourite candidates.Students are encouraged to engage in sports and outdoor games on the regular basis.
During the valedictory function, Mrs. Jayatee Dasgupta, President- Dhamra Port Ladies Club known as Sangineez be presented and awarded to the winners. After the prize distribution ceremony, An eye soothing ketchup dance was performed by girls.The games conducted by expert PETs of local high schools efficiently.
