Jajpur Police arrests Sarpanch’s husband in connection with VLW’s death

Jajpur: October 19: Police arrested the Sarpanch Madhusmita Bhadra’s husband Rupesh Bhadra for abetment of suicide on Saturday.

As per the Post-Mortem report, Smitarani died of asphyxia due to hanging.

Prima facie evidences reveal that Smitarani had an external affair with Sarpanch Madhusmita Bhadra’s husband Rupesh Bhadra, informed Jajpur SP Charan Singh Meena.

Also, it is said, she was asking him to leave his wife and stay with her. Both had arguments on the issue earlier and on the fateful day, she again raised the issue. Rupesh straightway said, he can’t leave his wife….and challenged her to take any step possible.

Smitarani went to the restroom and committed suicide.

It is to be noted, after distributing allowances in Bhadanga Village, the VLW Smitarani Biswal came to have lunch with Sarpanch Madhusmita Bhadra and her husband Rupesh Bhadra at later’s Guest House. Before the lunch, Smitarani had gone to the first floor of the guest house to freshen up.

Later, she was found hanging with her chunri from the ceiling fan.
