Japanese Encephalitis death toll increases to 33 in 27 days; Cong leader shows agitation demands ex-gratia from govt, in Malkangiri, Odisha

Malkangiri, Oct 5: Another death case due to Japanese Encephalitis three girl children has died on Wednesday. With this the death toll has been increased to 33 in just 27 days.

As per the information, Swati Matam of Sindhikela under Mathili block died last night, on the other side Saraswati Kumbhar of Pitakata died today morning while being treated and Rasmita Gaud of Mundaguda village also died today while been taken to the hospital. Reacting upon this incident by demanding compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of the deceased and ex-gratia for the already dead children, Pradeep Majhi, former MP of Nabarangpur and Congress leader staged dharana in front of the district Collector’s office carrying the corpse of two kids. Even though many lives have been succumbed to death because of the disease, no proper steps regarding the giving of vaccination has been taken yet, told Majhi. The agitation will be continued till the vaccination is administered in Malkangir, Majhi Further said.

Following such a situation, Dussehra holidays of all government officials has been cancelled by Malkangiri Collector and all authorities are asked to remain alert and aware.
