Malkangiri, Oct 8: Even though the State government has stated about the various steps which have been initiated to neutralize the Japanese Encephalitis as soon as possible, on Friday night one more child succumbed to death due to the disease and today morning a girl child breathed her last after constantly fighting with the virus. The deceased is Debasmita Betia aged just 3. With this the number of child deaths due to Japanese Encephalitis has gone up to 42 in 30 days. As per the information, in the district headquarters hospital 4 children’s health is stated to be critical from 60 children who are undergoing treatment. Following this they have been shifted to the ICU, officials of medical informed. Raising serious concern over the spread of decease, the district administration has announced to provide a compensation of Rs 1.4 crore to kill 2,400 pigs.
To tackle the situation, a Central Control Cell has been created which will be led by the MD of NHM and it will be assisted by Bikash Patnaik, the joint secretary of the Odisha Health department.
