Japanese Encephalitis: two more death making the death toll reach to 67 in just 44 days in Malkangiri, Odisha

Malkangiri, Oct 22: Today two more children died thus taking the death toll in Malkangiri district to 67 in the last 44 days.

The two children, Sujit Betti aged 2 of Uskapalli Village in Kalimela and Gayatri Peda aged 4 of Sindhiguda village in Maithili died while undergoing treatment at the Malkangiri district headquarters hospital (DHH).

On the other side, to review the current situation at Malkangiri, a central team consisting of six members visited the affected village. They examined the cause of the spread of the vector-borne disease and also reviewed as to how to contain the JE fever on Friday.

The team made a visit to Palakonda, Babli and Koimetal village and before going there they headed to the district headquarters hospital for inspection of the health condition of the patients and had an hour-long discussion with the hospital staff.
