JE arrested by vigilance on graft charge

Bhubaneswar, April 18: Anti-Corruption Vigilance sleuths have arrested a junior engineer in Kalahandi district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 for sending a feasibility report for installation of a transformer for irrigation work.

Goutam Ojha, JE (Electrical) in power distribution company WESCO in Narla section, was arrested Saturday from his office by vigilance officers of Koraput Division, a release said today.

Complainant Dagariswar Sahu claimed that villagers of Lakhpadar had demanded installation of a transformer in their area for irrigation purposes.

Sahu requested the accused to send the feasibility report for installation of a transformer but Ojha demanded Rs 20,000 for the same following which a complaint was made to Vigilance.

Thereafter, a trap was laid and Ojha was caught while accepting bribe Rs 20,000 from the complainant in his office, it said, adding, the bribe money was recovered from Ojha’s possession and has been seized in presence of witnesses.

Investigation is underway.
