JE situation is under control: Central team

Bhubaneswar, Oct 24: While on one hand the number of children who died due to Japanese Encephalitis has mounted to 67 in 46 days, on the other hand while reviewing the situation, Kalpana Baruah, Joint Director of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme has said that the situation is under control.

Adding to this, she further informed the media persons that to control the disease, the Malkangiri district administration and Health department have been taking proper measures. Besides, government also has been taking steps to control the issue.

Samples of the patients have been collected and investigation has been initiated, said Baruah. Informing about the vaccination, she said that after a high level meeting in November and December, the final decision regarding it will be taken.

As the disease has no boundaries, the two States Koraput and Chhattisgarh have been taking necessary steps to prevent the disease.

It may be noted that on October 22, the central team consisting six members visited the district, lived there and have been reviewing the situation. The team has visited Palakonda, Babli and Koimetal villages affected with the disease and reviewed the condition. By visiting the district headquarters hospital, the team had also scrutinized about the health condition of patients.
