JE’s increasing death toll; Pradip Majhi calls for ‘Judhyam Dehi’ movement, BJD says not to politicize the issue

Malkangiri, Nov 25: While on one side where the death toll in Malkangiri due to Japanese Encephalitis is increasing day by day, on the other side on Friday, the former MP of Nabarangpur and congress leader Pradip Majhi threatened the state government that he will observe fast-unto-death from December 21 and also called for ‘Judhyam Dehi’ movement.

Apart from this, Majhi also demanded Rs 12 lakh as compensation to the deceased families and immediate fulfill of vacant doctors’ post in Malkangiri as well as the starting of JE vaccination.

The State government has failed in neutralizing the Japanese Encephalitis in Malkangiri, informed Majhi to newsmen. Failing from fulfilling the demands, a dharana will be held in front of Raj Bhavan on December 21, he further added.

Meanwhile, BJD also showed his reaction on this. Rabi Narayan Nanda, BJD spokesperson commented on this saying that once the central government provides assistance, the vaccination drive will be initiated and also requested to not to make any political issues of this matter.  

However, on Thursday with one more death from Japanese Encephalitis the toll has gone up to 118. The deceased girl child named Pramila Padiami of Bandaguda under Korakanda block died at district headquarters hospital while undergoing treatment.
