The thieves broke into a jewellery store in the Hatpada area of Beldha, which is in the Balasore district of Odisha and is under the police control of Kamarda. They did it late at night, when the whole market area was empty. It is said, thieves broke down the jewellery store’s shutters and stole gold and other jewels.

When the shop owner got to open his store early in the morning, he saw that someone had broken in. The shop’s display boxes were broken into, and the shutter was found to have been tampered with and bent open.

The exact value of the taken goods has not been determined yet because a full inventory check is still going on. But people in the area think that jewellery worth several lakhs may have been stolen because the shop is said to do a lot of business.

The shopkeeper made a complaint, which led the Kamarda Police to open a case and start a probe. To gather evidence from the crime scene, which may include CCTV footage from businesses nearby and a forensic team was called in. The police initially suspect a group of skilled thieves familiar with the area.
