Justice Harish Tandon new CJ of Orissa High Court

Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Harish Tandon as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Orissa.
The appointment was made against the vacancy which arose consequent upon retirement of Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh on 19th January earlier this year.
“Mr. Justice Harish Tandon was appointed as a Judge of the High Court at Calcutta on 13th April 2010 and has been functioning there since then. Mr. Justice Harish Tandon ranks at Sl. No. 7 in the All-India Seniority of High Court Judges, including Chief Justices. He is a senior puisne Judge in his parent High Court. Before his elevation as a Judge of the High Court, he practised in the High Court at Calcutta in civil matters. He has acquired extensive experience in dispensing justice. He is considered to be a competent judge and possesses a high level of integrity and conduct required of a person holding high judicial office,” the resolution reads.
