Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: Today the Khurda ADJ-2 court will announce its hearing decision upon the bail application filed by SUM Hospital owner, Manoj Nayak. Nayak is currently at the Jharpada jail here after his arrest on Oct 20 in connection with the SUM Hospital Fire Mishap incident. He was also on a two day police remand period from Oct 21.
Yesterday the court had reserved its order on the same after it judged arguments from both sides for two hours. While the prosecution was in against of the bail application of Nayak based on the case diary submitted to the court, on the other hand, the accused’s counsel argued in favour of the bail rather blaming the Fire Services Department for its delayed arrival at the spot and also for not establishing proper fire safety measures at the hospital premises. However the hearing yesterday also concluded on the bail plea of Capital Hospital Superintendent, Pusparaj Samantsinghar.
In the meantime, the Commissionerate Police has issued notices to two trustees of the Sikshya O Anusandhan Charitable Trust one being Nayak’s wife Saswati Das and the other being his sister Arati Nayak and has asked both of them to appear at the police station withing seven days. On Wednesday, Oct 26, both wife and sister had appeared at the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail to avoid possible arrest in the same incident. The Sikshya O Anusandhan Charitable Trust, which manages and controls the SUM Hospital, has three trustees including Manoj Nayak.
