On Saturday, KIIT International School hosted the 9th annual Model United Nations 2022, inaugurated by Governor of Odisha Prof. Ganeshi Lal, who spoke about his vision for an integrated education system that places the teacher, the student, and the parents on an equal footing.
In Odisha, the Model United Nations (MUN) is the first of its type. It was established in 2013, providing students with a simulated forum for engaging in and debating issues of national and international significance, such as climate change and world peace.
The KIIT International School is the only school in the state to be associated with this distinguished UN mission. The ninth edition will focus on refugee difficulties.
In his address as the Chief Guest, the Governor stated that education should be inclusive and foster unity. Knowledge should foster the highest human development values and instill simplicity and humility. The Governor stated that teachers have a significant role in creating pupils’ “inner consciousness,” which motivates them to be truthful in their deeds and behaviors.
Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the founder of KIIT & KISS, thanked the Governor for attending the occasion and characterized him as a storehouse of knowledge. He stated that the 9th edition’s theme, “refugee problems,” is crucial due to the global displacements caused by many factors. “Displacement is difficult, if it’s forced displacement, it is more difficult”, he said.
According to Dr. Samanta, the MUN platform allows for the discussion and resolution of current concerns and challenges. “Baat karoge to baat banegi,” he said emphatically.
Dr. Samanta stated that KIIT has made tremendous strides in addressing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He stated that KIIT has been named as the world’s eighth best university in the coveted Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022 for its outstanding progress in reducing disparities.’
Head of Officer Odisha UNDP Abha Mishra, Chairperson KIIT International School Mona Lisa Bal, Principal Dr. Sanjya Suar, and others attended the program.
