Bhubaneswar, Feb 16: Smart consultation through tele-medicine has been started at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital from Monday.
Eminent spine surgeon from Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi Dr Shankar Acharya, gave consultation through the ultramodern tele-medicine link established by KIMS.
Acharya gave consultancy through video conference in presence of patient and doctors in KIMS for better treatment. The facility is the first of its kind in Odisha.
It added that the service will be provided once in a week for the time being. It will be provided daily later on. In the future it will be extended to all other departments and linked to all districts of Odisha.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between KIMS and SGRH, New Delhi to provide Telemedicine service recently.
