Local students to get priority for admission to model schools

Bhubaneswar, April 1: Local students will get priority for admission to model schools, said School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra.

Responding to queries of BJP MLA Basanta Panda and Congress MLA Subal Sahu during Question Hour, the Minister informed the Assembly that model schools will be set up in every block across the State and local students will get priority during admissions.

“Every blocks in the State will have model schools. Priority will be given to local students during admission in these schools,” Mishra said. Notably, the State government has decided to set up model schools in all 314 blocks.

Students from Standard I to XII will be admitted in the model schools. Stating that the students will have hostel facilities. Besides usual courses, students will be imparted vocational training keeping in view their employability. Meanwhile, recruitment of teachers for some of the schools have already completed. The Chief Minister had also suggested the School and Mass Education Department to make the model schools as model institutions.
