Demand Immediate revision and payment of compensation amount.
Bolangir, June 1: Halting the on-going construction work of the dam at the Lower Suktel project site in Bolangir, the locals especially women, today staged a dharna demanding immediate revision and payment of compensation package.
Rallying to the project site, the locals demanded the shutting down of construction until their compensation has been paid in full.
Notably,earlier the district admin (DA) had promised the villagers to fulfil their demands by May 31. But as their demands were not fulfilled, they protested once again today in front of the DA.
However, some compensation was released earlier in 2014, but the locals have protested demanding the same as per the state cabinet’s approved policy of 2013. They have demanded to release the full compensation at the earliest, said source.
