Locals protest against frequent power cuts

Telkoi, May 15: Today a 12-hour bandh was observed by the locals here in Keonjhar. Following to this, the locals protest against  frequent power cuts in the area and staged a demonstration. As a result, all shops, offices, business houses and other institutions were closed down. The roads and markets in the area also seemed barren. While on the other way, the locals even staged a road block at Jagamohanpur, following to a major halt in transportation. But though after police intervention, the outraged locals opened bus services only on NH-49.

“Earlier, the state had promised of no electricity shortage this summer. But even after that, Telkoi still faces hours and hours of power cut amidst these scorching heat” said the locals.

Notably, the locals had earlier approached the district admin requesting the same. But though no response was seen from the DA’s side, the locals had to take up the lathis (sticks).
