Balasore, Jan 19: Tension gripped Sanataragadia area in Nilagiri at Balasore after a truck hit a boy early this morning, leading to his death.
The irate locals staged a roadblock and demanded compensation for the kin of the deceased, following the incident, while the truck was set on fire and a nearby liquor shop was smashed. The protesting locals demanded about Rs 20 lakh compensation along with asked to remove illegal brick kilns and liquor shops in the area.
After the Local tehsildar, sub-collector and IIC reached the spot and agreed to the terms of the locals, the protest was called off peacefully, said sources.
