Bhubaneswar, Nov 21: Today the Odisha Gramya Bank in Dhenkanal was robbed. A sum total of Rs 1.15 crore went missing from the locker.
It’s stated that around Rs 8.85 crore, having all banned notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 was stored in the rural bank’s strong room. The cops stated that the looters somehow spared Rs 7 crore out of the said amount stored in the strong room. All the cash were stashed in three huge boxes in the chest. It’s suspected that the incident happened on late Sunday night as said by the cops.
The CCTV footages are being scrutinized as of now. The cops further went on to say that they suspect the involvement of bank members in the robbery incident. The bank members came to know about the loot in the morning when the bank was opened. To a surprise, the bank is just 100 meters away from the Dhenkanal PS.
It’s stated that the bank was about to transfer the cash to its headquarters in Bhubaneswar today. Police are also interrogating the bank’s security guards.
