Orissa HC lawyers continue protest over judges' appointment

Cuttack, Nov 21: Today Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, the brother of late Congress leader Lalatendu (Lulu) Bidyadhar Mohapatra registered a petition in the Orissa High Court here seeking to substitute him as petitioner in Brahmagiri Assembly election case.

The petition was filed by Lulu under Sub-Section of Section 112 of The Representation of the People Act, 1951. This was informed by Lalitendu’s lawyer Pitambar Acharya to the press. According to the act, on the death of the petitioner, although the case stands to albeit technically, any voter can run the case if he/she wishes to do so, and being a voter in the Brahmagiri Assembly constituency, Lalit has applied to substitute him as a petitioner in the case.

Notably in the year 2014, Lulu had filed a petition against BJD’s Sanjay Das Burma for adopting unscrupulous means during polling. He had also stated that about the large scale voting irregularities by the BJD leader. Mohapatra had prayed the court to declare the poll null and void.
