New Delhi, Aug 13: A moment of embarrassment hovered around the Parliament for the ruling BJD when Lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan on Friday smashed the privilege motion issued by three of its members a few days ago against Minister of State for Water resources, Sanjeev Balyan for providing misleading facets about the Mahanadi issue. The move had been initiated by BJD parliamentary party leader Bhartruhari Mahatab and MPs Nagendra Pradhan and Prabhas Singh.
Notably, on July 26 in connection to the Mahanadi project issue between Odisha and Chhattisgarh, Balyan had informed in the Lok Sabha that Chhattisgarh has already submitted a detailed project report on the Kelo project to Odisha in 2006. The project was completed in 2009. Henceforth, the BJD had served a privilege notice against Balyan alleging that the minister had misled the Parliament on the Mahanadi issue.
