Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: Seeing Chhattisgarh’s unchanged decision of construction of barrages on Mahanadi thus leading to worsening of water crisis especially during summers, the administration has decided to build a cross bund of 300 m length and 10 feet height to stock and conserve water of the tributary Kuakhai. A fund of about Rs 4 lakh is being spent in the project. With the coming of the summer season, water shortage can be felt in Mahanadi thus leading to worse conditions in Kuakhai. In fear of such situations, the administration has decided to channelize the water from Puri canal which comes out from Mundali barrage into Kuakhai. This was informed by Chittaranjan Jena, Superintendent Engineer of Public Health Department to media persons.
