Nayagarh, March 18: Nayagarh police have detained a newly-married man for ditching his wife on the pretext that she was a transgender.
However, medical tests, conducted after the woman approached police, has conclusively proved that she was a woman.
The man identified as Anant Nayak of Dimirijhari village of the district alleged that his wife was not a woman and hence he cannot lead a normal marital life with her.
Family members of both Anant and his wife reached the hospital where a medical examination was conducted.
“She is completely a female and all physical attributes to prove the same are present in her,” said the doctor who conducted the test.
